I Want To Be A Photographer When I Grow Up #SoFabU

I actually said that. If I had to guess it was somewhere between ages five and eight. But I definitely remember saying that.

Of course that dream sort of fell away and I didn’t think much about it until I started blogging. When my blog started to take shape I realized I really liked talking about crafts, DIY projects and cooking. And if you want to get anywhere in the world of crafts, DIY and cooking blogging you have to create really great, pinnable images.

I sort of cringe when I see my old blog posts. (And some of my not so old blog posts.) I knew nothing about composition or lighting or photo editing. I have some posts that I’m actually quite proud of when you look at the content, but they’re completely ruined by the photos that accompany them.

I knew that to be the blogger I wanted to be some changes were in order. I invested in a new camera and started reading blog photography tutorials. I do think it’s working. I think my photos have definitely improved. Unfortunately they’re no where near the caliber of  my favorite bloggers’ photography.

That’s why I’m so excited to be a part of Social Fabric University’s six week photography course sponsored by Sears and their #GrillingIsHappiness campaign. This is the second round of #SoFabU and the results I witnessed from the original participants were impressive. I’ll be ecstatic if I can come anywhere close to their final portfolios.

Photography, SoFabU, CBias, Class, Pixl, Photo Editing

For our first assignment we’re learning how to use Pixlr to edit our photos. In the collage above you can see the original photograph, one with adjusted levels and one where I played with the sharpening.

I’ll be blogging about the class every week-I hope you’re follow along!

I’m a member of the Social Fabric Community. Thanks to Social Fabric and Sears Grilling for sponsoring this course. #GrillingIsHappiness #CBias #SocialFabric #SoFabU
