Christmas Tree Bath Bombs

Need a little holiday relaxation? How about a DIY Christmas gift? Christmas Tree Bath Bombs

This started out as an excuse to buy the Christmas tree mold I saw at the craft store. I refuse to let myself buy any crafts supplies if I can’t figure out how I’ll use them immediately. So my mind latched onto the idea of Christmas tree bath bombs… Christmas Tree Mold

My first attempt was a disaster. The mold is pretty deep, so you’ll have to remember to pack the bath bomb mixture in well, filling in a little at a time. Pay particular attention to the bottom of the mold. The original trees lost their tops when I pulled them out. Second time was the charm, though, after slowly and carefully packing everything down.

You’ll need:

  • Christmas Tree Mold
  • Citric Acid
  • Baking Soda
  • Epsom Salt
  • Cornstarch
  • Almond Oil
  • Water
  • Essential Oil
  • Green Food Coloring

Use a large bowl to combine 11 tablespoons of baking soda, 5 tablespoons of citric acid, 5 tablespoons of corn starch and 2 tablespoon of epsom salt. In a separate bowl combine 1 teaspoon of almond oil with 3 teaspoons of water. Add about ten drops of your favorite essential oil and a few drops of green food coloring. Make sure you’re using liquid food coloring rather than gel-you’ll get better color that way.

Slowly add the liquid to your dry ingredients, stirring constantly. As soon as the mixture starts to clump, stop adding liquid. Firmly press into your mold and allow it to dry overnight. This should create enough bath bomb mixture for three Christmas trees. Space them out in the mold to give yourself more room to work when you’re removing them. You’ll be less likely to break off any tree tops that way.

After that, all that’s left to do is take a bath-or package them up as a great DIY holiday gift!
