Earlier this week I was in line behind a lady who was writing a check. The cashier had to call over a manager to help and even the manager was a little confused. It had been that long since either had processed a check.
I had to find my own check book recently to enter my account information for a bill pay program. That’s when I realized the primary reason I ever picked up my check book: to find my bank routing number. As a matter of fact the last check I wrote was back in March. The one before that was in January.
Not only do I not write checks, I don’t receive them. My paycheck is direct deposited. When I am paid for blog and social media work it’s usually via PayPal. (Occasionally I get gift cards and in one case I just started getting payments via Chase Quick Pay.)
So what about you? Do you write checks or do you think they are going the way of the dinosaur?
(And yes, that is totally my real check book…and yes, I was totally in my 30s when I ordered it…)
