Hidden Mickey Duct Tape Pocket

I was up until 3am last night talking with a friend about our next vacation to Walt Disney World. We’ll be there for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and that means costume planning. Of course that goes along with all of the regular planning a vacation to a Walt Disney World park requires. (And I’m using the term requires loosely. I’m a planner by nature, but you can totally wing it and have a good time, too.) In addition to DIYing my costume, I’m DIYing some easy duct tape pockets with Hidden Mickeys to make navigating the parks a little easier.

Huggies Clutch

I never travel without Huggies® Wipes in my bag. Obviously they’re great for babies, but they’re perfect for travel, too. Spill your Dole Whip? Encounter a dirty table? Feel all sweaty? Just grab a wipe! Natural Care® Wipes are hypoallergenic, fragrance and alcohol free and contain just a touch of aloe and Vitamin E. They’re perfect if you have sensitive skin.
When you pick up a box at BJ’s® Wholesale Club, a super cute refillable clutch will be included. With an easy to make duct tape pockets, the clutch can serve as your wallet, too. Lightening your load at the park is always a good idea!

Zippered Snack Bag

To make your own duct tape pockets you’ll need a plastic zipper bag, duct tape and scissors. Snack-sized bags are the perfect size for the Huggies clutch.

Make sure you use a high quality zipper bag. Cheaper bags tend to rip and be difficult to open and close. The bags I used had a tab at the top that I cut off before I started to make the pocket.

Duct Tape On Bag

I like to use my cutting mat when I’m working with duct tape. Whatever you use, make sure it’s a surface that won’t be damaged by the tape.

Start by covering the bag evenly with strips of duct tape. Flip the bag over and repeat.

Trim Edges

Once the bag is fully covered, trim off the excess duct tape.

Create Edges

To attach the pocket to your clutch, apply strips of duct tap around the bottom and sides of the pocket, then trim off any excess. You can also add a little glue to the back of the bag to keep things securely in place.

Place the bag on the back of your clutch, smoothing it into place.

Round Punches

You can find duct tape in all sorts of fun colors and patterns, but I wanted to add a little character to my pocket with some Hidden Mickeys.

To create the Hidden Mickeys I used two different sizes of circle punches and a sheet of black duct tape. You can make your own duct tape sheets with a roll of duct tape by applying it to a piece of parchment paper.

Hidden Mickey

Randomly place your Hidden Mickeys all over the back of your pocket.

Duct Tape Pocket

There’s plenty of room for your park tickets, cash and other odds and ends in your cute, new pocket. Plus you’ll have plenty of wipes at hand for whatever little messes you might encounter along the way.
