Last week I shared the Arm & Hammer Spinbrush Spin Into Action project from Champions for Kids. We’re on a mission to give children a reason to smile!
That’s why I went shopping to purchase oral care supplies to donate for this month’s SIMPLE Service Project. You can view the entire shopping trip to start my donation in my Google+ story. It’s important that children have the tools needed for proper dental care. Tooth decay is one of the most common diseases of early childhood.
I was able to fill a bag with donations from others that included more toothbrushes, toiletries and even some food. I know that food banks often struggle for donations during the summer so I wanted to visit the Food Bank of Central & Easter North Carolina again.
Since I’m donating small items my bag of donations was pretty small-but it had enough toothpaste and toothbrushes for seven children, plus other things like lotion, soaps, cereal and formula.
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina’s Durham branch is located in a warehouse downtown. It’s a huge building and I was sad to see that the shelves were not as full as they had been during my visit in January.
They serve 34 of the 100 counties in my state, coordinating with over 800 partner agencies. I like donating to the Food Bank because I know with their partner agencies and special programs my donations will be put to good use.
There’s still plenty of time for you to join in this month’s SIMPLE Service Project. Just purchase oral care supplies and encourage your friends, families and coworkers to join in. Then report back to Champions for Kids so your project is counted. It’s a great way to help share a smile with a child in need.
You can also learn more about Champions for Kids and this month’s SIMPLE Service Project at the #SpinbrushCFK Twitter Party!
