I created these 4th of July S’mores in partnership wtih Honey Maid.
Have big plans for the 4th of July this year? Whether you’re spending it with family, or spending it with the friends who feel like family, it’s a time to celebrate. Grab some loved ones, find some fireworks, and share in the country’s birthday celebration in the old-fashioned, wholesome way Americans do it best.
Let’s be honest-it’s not a birthday party without a few snacks. Like most people, I love s’mores, and I don’t think s’mores need to be saved for a campfire. Not when there’s a way to enjoy them on-the-go!
How to make s’mores to-go
All you need are Honey Maid Graham crackers, your favorite chocolate, some marshmallows, and optional-but-not-really-optional sprinkles. It is a celebration, after all.
You can work with traditional marshmallows on this if necessary, but keep an eye out for the square ones made especially for s’mores. They’re perfect for this and they’ll make your life just a little easier.
Melt your chocolate in a double boiler, then use a dab on each side of your deliciously wholesome Honey Maid Graham Crackers to glue your s’more together. Give them a few minutes to set up before you move on to the next step – or pop them in the freezer for about a minute.
Give your s’mores a generous dip in the melted chocolate. A slotted chocolate dipping spoon is pretty priceless at this point for getting a good coating of chocolate on top without having a huge goop of chocolate on the bottom. Throw those patriotic sprinkles on top before the chocolate hardens up. Place your chocolate covered s’mores on a cookie sheet lined with a baking mat or parchment paper, and pop it in the freezer for another minute or two.
Once your s’mores are ready, wrap them up and throw them in the cooler. Bring extra for the friends you’ll make when you’re at your 4th of July celebration.
