I’m celebrating the home release of Aladdin by making upcycled plastic bottle rhinestone cuff bracelets! The animated and live action version of Aladdin are both available on Digital now and on Blu-ray on September 10, 2019! This post contains affiliate links.
Aladdin is finally available to watch at home! I loved the original animated film, and the live-action version was such a fun surprise. When I was invited to make Aladdin-inspired jewelry to celebrate the Blu-ray release, I jumped at the chance! Long before the blog, jewelry making was my thing. I’ve also been wanting to make plastic bottle cuffs for a while now, so this was a win-win!
How To Make Plastic Bottle Cuff Bracelets
To make your own Aladdin-inspired bracelets, you’ll need:
- Empty 1 liter plastic bottles
- Gold Paint
- Rhinestones
- Glue
- Scissors
- Masking Tape
Clean your empty 1 liter bottles and remove any labels. You can use cooking spray and a paper towel to scrub off any sticky residue that might remain on the bottles.
Wrap the bottle with a strip of masking tape to create straight cut lines, then cut around the tape to create plastic rings.
Carefully cut down the center of each plastic ring, then use glue to size each cuff to fit your wrist. You can add a piece of masking tape to hold the glued pieces together, if needed, while it dries.
Once your glue is dry it’s time to paint your cuffs with gold paint. I used spray paint, but any metallic paint, even brush on craft paint, would work.
If you want to create a bracelet with a studded look, glue on rhinestones before you paint it.
After your paint dries, glue on rhinestones. This is where things really get fun! Get creative choosing the colors and the placement of the rhinestones on your painted cuffs.
After the rhinestone glue is dry, your Aladdin-inspired cuff bracelets are ready to wear!
