Greek salad is one of those things that I will order from time to time when I’m at a restaurant. And more than likely I’ll leave half of it on my plate. It’s not that they’re doing it wrong. It’s just that I have certain things I like and certain things I’d rather skip. If I’m being totally honest, I’m getting a Greek salad because I love olives and feta. It’s possible that a bowl of feta and olives by itself would make me totally happy, but I’m willing to throw in a few extra things for the sake of having variety.

Whatever. I’m team romaine. A traditional Greek salad is also likely to have tomatoes and red onion. (The previously mentioned left on the plate ingredients.)
But cucumbers? Check. Lots of crumbly feta? Check. All the Mezzetta kalamata olives? Check. Check. Check. Helpful hint: making your own Greek-or-Almost Greek Salad at home? Add some diced olives to your dressing. It’s a great way to make sure every bite has a little olive love.
And speaking of dressing. It couldn’t be easier. Equal parts red wine vinegar and olive oil. Bam.
This holiday season, why not let your family and friends create the salad that is perfect for them by setting up a simple salad bar? Just don’t forget lots of feta and Mezzetta olives!
