Today I was looking up something on my phone when I saw “Try Handwrite” on Google.com. Of course I clicked to see what it was about. Now I can write with my finger on my Samsung Galaxy S III and Google will use handwriting detection to search. Pretty clever, right?
I played around with it for a bit and it really did a great job of reading my handwriting. (Not that what I write on a touch screen with my finger actually counts as handwriting…) Just to clarify, you can write anywhere on the screen and Google will pop your handwriting into the search box, then switch it to text. I tried to get a screenshot of me actually writing but it was just too quick to capture. You can see better examples in Google’s video below:
Obviously I wanted to let you all know about this in case you haven’t seen it yet…except this launched last month. You’ve all been using it already and forgot to tell me about it, right? Why am I always the last to know?
If Google hasn’t prompted you to try Handwrite yet on your touch screen device just go to Google.com on your touch screen device, click on settings and enable Handwrite.
