Thank you to American Girl for providing the doll featured in this post.
Every new year means a new Girl of the Year™ from American Girl. This year, Gabriela McBride™ use her creative talents, including poetry, to help break down barriers and overcome her personal challenge with stuttering. American Girl is partnering with Scholastic to create and distribute Express Yourself, a custom curriculum program that teaches 3rd-5th grade students how to use poetry as a tool for self-expression. Find out more on www.scholastic.com starting March 1, 2017.
To celebrate the new Girl of the Year, I’m taking inspiration from Gabriela’s love of poetry-and her personal wardrobe-to create this “dream” poetry journal.
Gabriela’s signature outfit includes a top with a silver “dream” logo.
To make your poetry journal you’ll need a “dream” decal and a small notebook.
If you have a Silhouette, grab this file to make your decal. No Silhouette? Ask around amongst your crafty friends-one of them is sure to have a digital cutter and they’ll be able to help you out!
Use transfer tape to add your decal to the front of your notebook.
The final step? Dream and write all about it in your new poetry journal!
