I love all of the WellieWishers from American Girl! They’re the perfect “starter doll” for younger fans. WellieWisher Ashlyn is a princess-in-training and party planner extraordinaire, and her fun pink and white dress with corset-style ribbons is the perfect inspiration for an Ashlyn Christmas Ornament!
American Girl WellieWisher Ashlyn Christmas Ornament
To make your own Ashlyn Christmas Ornament, you’ll need:
- Ornament Blank
- Pink and White Scrapbook Paper
- Pink Craft Paint and Brushes
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Mod Podge
- Gold Satin Ribbon
- Glue Gun and Hot Glue
You probably won’t find a piece of scrapbook paper that is a perfect match, but any pink and white overall design will work for this ornament. Give the ornament blank a full coat or two of pink paint, including around the edges.
Use Mod Podge to adhere the scrapbook paper to the front of the ornament and then cut out around the edges. Use a ruler to mark out dots on each side of the ornament an equal distance apart for the corset ribbons.
Adding the ribbon is the one part of the job that isn’t kid-friendly since you’ll need hot glue. Add a small dot of glue on the marks and press in the ribbon. Do one spot at a time to make sure the ribbon is secure before moving onto the next one. Go back and forth, crisscrossing the ribbon. Finish it off with a small bow.
