Andor, a 24-episode spy thriller centered around Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, kicked off the Lucasfilm presentation at D23 Expo. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy welcomed stars Genevieve O’Reilly, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, and Cassian Andor himself, Diego Luna, to the stage as their character posters were unveiled.
“You won’t believe where you find these characters,” according to Luna. “You’re going to see Cassian and you won’t believe he’s capable of doing what we saw him doing in Rogue One. It’s about the awakening of a revolutionary. It’s about someone finding out that there’s a purpose, that there’s something to fight for. And you’ll see a whole community reacting. This is about bringing change. And hopefully a story you will love to watch.”
Luna also serves as an executive producer on the series, something he refers to as a wonderful journey. “Many times you’re just thrown into something that is already happening, but on this one, I have the chance to be there from beginning to end, and the journey has been fantastic.” He considers each episode a mini film produced by the best team both in front and behind the camera. “There is not a better way to get into a set as an actor, because I know what’s behind every decision and I know it’s for the best of the show and for the love of the fans.”
The first three episodes of Andor‘s first season premiere exclusively on Disney+ on September 21, 2022.
About Andor
“Andor,” a spy thriller from Lucasfilm filmed over two 12-episode seasons, takes place five years before the events of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The era featured in “Andor” is filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero. “Andor” presents Star Wars from a different perspective, focusing on everyday people whose lives are affected by the Empire. The decisions they make have real consequences, and the stakes for them—and the galaxy—couldn’t be higher.
