I have a confession. I’m not that into sports. This, despite growing up in a family full of sports fans. I love attending pretty much any sporting event in person. But watching it on tv? Not so much-at least not until it’s championship time. I went to a college where basketball was a pretty big deal. They even managed to claim a national championship my sophomore year. It was kind of awesome. As long as my school still has a place on my bracket, I’m all in! I’m the biggest fan ever. I’m the friend you want to hide from your Facebook feed…
Today I’m sharing some easy and fun party ideas for your basketball watch party. It’s totally customizable to match your team’s favorite colors. I’m using turquoise and orange today because they caught my eye while I was shopping. Not because they’re my team’s colors. Those would be blue and white!
Planning decor was easy-if I found it in my color scheme I bought it! One of my favorite touches was basketball hoop. I picked up an inexpensive over the door basketball goal and attached it to the wall using poster putty. That means it can easily come down once the party is over. (And go over my office door for a quick game when I’m procrastinating…)
I also made a “Go Team” bunting with my Silhouette. You can grab the cut file here. You can even customize it with your favorite team’s name.
To keep party cleanup easy, I stuck with paper products that fit the overall color scheme. That keeps dishes to a minimum.
At Sam’s Club I was able to stock up on party drinks and snacks that would keep the prep time to a minimum. They have 35 packs of Coke Zero cans and 24 packs of Sprite bottles that will be enough for even the biggest of watch parties.
Prepared cheese and cracker trays mean I don’t have to spend a ton of time in the kitchen.
And who says you can’t serve healthy snacks? A veggie platter is always a good idea.
You already know my personal cupcake philosophy: every party should have them! I loved how my basketball cupcakes turned out. I found cute little basketballs at the party store, and after giving them a really good wash, I used them as fun cupcake toppers!
Second only to my cupcake party philosophy is my belief that every sporting event should include popcorn. Or in this case kettle corn in super cute paper bags that match the color scheme.
Nothing goes together quite like basketball and wings. One of my favorite recipes from my mom is her vinegar marinaded chicken breasts. I decided to give it a shot on some wings. And can I just say this is one of my favorite new recipes? The wings were so easy to make that they’ll be going into heavy rotation here, I’m sure.
You can stock up Coke Zero, Sprite and all of your party food needs at Sam’s Club!
