Last month I contacted my local Boys & Girls Club to see what was on their wish list. They were in need of footballs, whistles and cleats. Especially cleats. Children were wearing the wrong size shoes. They were making the best of it with limited resources. I was excited and I wanted to help. I asked around. I sought out gently used cleats to donate. No one had any available. That meant I was going to have to shop for everything.
I had some help. I got a little money from coworkers who wanted to contribute. I was feeling a little down because I had not been able to collect as much as I wanted. Your money can only go so far when you’re shopping for cleats and footballs. I ended up with four pairs of cleats, three footballs, four whistles. I didn’t think I was doing enough.
