My Christmas spirit is huge, buy my outdoor holiday efforts are decidedly small. For the past few years it’s basically been “throw a wreath on the front door and call it a day”. There was one year that I attempted to put out lights with shutter clips and it was a disaster. Not to mention how my favorite wreath finally faded to the point where it was only suitable for the trash bin. In an effort to salvage my outdoor pride, I’m attempting to hang lights and create a fun new black and white snowman wreath for my front door.
Those shutter clips I tried to use before were also only suitable for the trash, but I have high hopes for the Command™ Outdoor Light Clips.
They’re made specifically for the outdoors and they work on vinyl. Plus, they won’t require any screws or nails. Who wants to mess around with that?
For my wreath, I’m using a white foam wreath form, black and white striped ribbon and tons of floral pins. The secret is to take your time wrapping and pinning around the wreath so the stripes line up nicely.
I then used more floral pins to attach a few decorations. I’d like to think that I could make that snowman-it is just a foam ball, after all-but I’ll confess that I picked it up in the floral department. It does take a little time to wrap the wreath, but overall this project couldn’t be easier! When it’s finished, just hang it on your door with a Command™ Brand hook!
And speaking of easy, the Command™ Outdoor Light Clips made hanging my lights a snap. Just give the surface a quick wash with water or rubbing alcohol, allow it to dry, then attach your clips. Give it at least an hour before you add your lights. Best of all, when it’s time to take down the lights-or if I want to change things around-the clips will remove easily without damaging the surface!
