Get By With A Little Help From Some Kids: Child Support Premieres on ABC

A screening and interview with the host of Child Support were part of the Disney/Lucasfilm hosted #TheLastJediEvent.

Picture yourself just ten questions away from $200,000. The first few questions are easy. You got this. Then suddenly you’re stumped. Those mental images of new cars and tropical vacations are fading fast. Never fear! Ricky Gervais is hanging out with a group of kids who just might be able to save you. That’s what will happen tonight for two lucky contestants on the premiere episode of Child Support.

Sure, you’ve seen quiz shows before. You stand in front of a big screen. A host (in this case, Fred Savage) walks you through the game as you get closer and closer to the big money.

But this time there’s a twist. On Child Support, if you don’t know the answer, Ricky Gervais is ready to ask the same question to a group of kids. If they answer correctly, you’re saved! And you might be surprised at just how often they get it right.

We had a chance to catch up with Fred Savage after screening the premiere episode, and he’s excited to be involved with something that can be watched by the whole family. “I really wanted something I could really enjoy with my kids and not worry about, and this is that for sure.”

The first season has already finished filming, so I tried to find out if anyone had walked away with the full $200,000. “There are some people that leave with a lot of money,” was all he would say.

I’m totally convinced that I could have won a ton of money on the show, but for now, I’ll live vicariously through the contestants. But when you watch tonight’s episode and they ask the question about the MIT certification? Just remember I got that one right…

In tonight’s episode, Monica of San Diego, California, and Martin of Orange County, California, will each try to answer 10 questions correctly in order to win the ultimate prize of $200,000. If they answer incorrectly, the contestants will have a chance to be saved by a group of kids being asked the same question by comedic mastermind Ricky Gervais, on the series premiere of “Child Support,” Friday, January 5, 2018 (8:00–9:00 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand.
