I received complimentary tickets to Crystal by Cirque du Soleil.
Love Cirque du Soleil? Crystal by Cirque du Soleil might be coming to location near you! I was lucky enough to take my niece to the Raleigh, North Carolina leg of their tour on opening night. This was my second Cirque du Soleil show, but it was Aly’s first. We both had an amazing time. I loved the trapeze acts and the ariel gymnastics. I tried to get Aly to give me some favorite moments and all I got was a “Everything.” That was followed by a “Can we get ice cream now?” Yeah, they had ice cream in the arena, which seems a little odd for an ice-themed show, but I guess it’s never a bad time for ice cream, right?
Thinking about grabbing tickets to see Crystal for yourself? Here are five things you need to know before you head to the show!
Arrive Early To Crystal by Cirque du Soleil
In the tradition of all Cirque du Soleil shows, performers will entertain the crowd at Crystal approximately fifteen minutes before the show starts. Make sure you arrive in time to enjoy the live music and the snowball fight! Yep, that’s right. There are actual snowball fights before the performance. Lower seats directly facing the stage have the best chance of getting in on the snowball action.
Dress Warmly For Crystal by Cirque du Soleil
As with any show on ice, expect the arena for Crystal to be colder than normal. You’ll want to be prepared for the cooler indoor temperature and those pre-show snowball fights. This is probably less of an issue if you’re attending Crystal later in the year, but if your tickets are for a summertime show like mine were, you’ll want to bring a jacket. Aly wore shorts and a t-shirt and refused to put on the jacket I insisted we take. But she also wanted ice cream, if you recall, so take that for what it’s worth…

Crystal by Cirque du Soleil Is For All Ages
While Crystal features a storyline that might go over the heads of young children, they’ll still enjoy the music and performances in the show. Since the performers do work the crowd, especially before the show starts, keep that in mind if you want to bring very young children who could be easily frightened. That’s not to say that the show is in any way scary, just that some little ones can get easily spooked by performers so you’ll want to be aware. Maybe it’s just the little ones in my family. They’re easily terrified by pretty much everything.
Stay Past “The End” of Crystal by Cirque du Soleil
There’s a moment where Crystal (the character Crystal, not the show Crystal) will indicate that it’s the end of the show. It’s almost the end, but stay put. There’s still a little more performance by the entire cast to enjoy before it’s time to go, and it’s totally worth watching. So yes, my official advice is get there early and stay there late.
Crystal by Cirque du Soleil In On Tour Now Through The End Of The Year
If you want to see Crystal for yourself, look at the schedule of upcoming shows on their official site. Then plan to get there early. Stay there late. And wear a jacket. The ice cream? That’s optional.
