A Dance Lesson With The “Dancing With The Stars” Troupe

A visit with the dance troupe from Dancing With The Stars was part of the Disney/Marvel hosted #GotGVol2Event.

I suppose we should start with the elephant in the room: I am not a dancer. Not even a little bit of a dancer. I took about five minutes of ballet when I was a kid and then stuck to bobbing around in the club as an adult. Needless to say, I was looking forward to ample opportunities for public embarrassment when we visited with the dance troupe of Dancing With The Stars for a dance lesson.

The dance lesson ended up being some of the most fun we had on the trip. We laughed. We sweated. We learned to salsa. The amazing Brittany Cherry had our group performance ready in no time. In addition to learning a few dance moves, I learned that going outside of your comfort zone can lead to some pretty amazing experiences.

I even remembered all of the steps! It’s a miracle!

The whole troupe is ridiculously talented and funny. They also work incredibly hard, creating multiple dance routines every week for the show. They also occasionally fill in when one of the dancers is injured, as in the case of Alan covering for Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

And speaking of Alan…

You’re welcome.

Tune in to ABC tonight at 8/7c to see the eight remaining couples dance to iconic songs from famous Boy Bands and Girl Groups. The night includes a team dance with men vs. women and Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter as a guest judge.  Maksim Chmerkovskiy will also return to the dance floor, replacing our new friend Alan Bersten.

The eight remaining celebrities will dance to songs from some of the most popular boy bands and girl groups throughout history, and the men and women will also compete against each other in team dances, on “Dancing with the Stars,” live, MONDAY, APRIL 24 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter joins Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough as a guest judge.
Some of the iconic boy bands and girl groups, whose songs will be danced to, include Simone and Sasha performing a samba to Destiny’s Child, Bonner and Sharna dancing a rumba to Backstreet Boys, Nick and Peta jiving to The Beach Boys, Normani and Val dancing a salsa to The Pussycat Dolls, and David and Lindsay performing an Argentine tango to *NSYNC, among others. Also, after being injured, Maks makes his return to the ballroom floor, where he and Heather will perform a rumba to TLC.
To add some spice to the competition, it’s Team Dances with men vs. women:
