Disney Parks And Resorts Updates From D23 Expo 2019

These Disney Parks and Resorts Updates were shared August 25, 2019.

Check out the latest updates from the D23 Expo 2019 Parks and Resorts presentation. 

Disneyland 

The Magic Happens Parade includes floats from Moana, Coco, Sleeping Beauty and more with new music from Todrick Hall. The parade will debut in Spring 2020 at Disneyland.

Mickey & Minnie Runaway Railway is coming to Hollywood Studios in 2020 and Disneyland’s Toontown in 2022. This will be the first ride-through attraction featuring Mickey and Minnie. 

Zootopia themed land coming to Disneyland Shanghai. 

An expansion of Hong Kong’s DIsneyland Castle-inspired by 13 Disney heroines-is coming. The castle will be called Castle of Magical Dreams. A Frozen themed land is also arriving in Hong Kong and will include Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs coaster. Frozen Ever After is also coming to Hong Kong.

Disneyland Paris and Disney California Adventure 

Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel will open next summer at Disneyland Paris. The hotel will celebrate 80 years of Marvel art and artists, with more than 300 stunning pieces on display. Rooms will include one-of-a-kind themed suites featuring favorite Super Heroes like Spider-Man, and guests can even meet these legends in a dedicated space.

Avengers Campus will open first in Disney California Adventure in 2020, later in Paris. Both campuses will feature the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature Spider-Man. The attraction will give guests a taste of what it’s like to have actual superpowers as they sling webs to help Spider-Man collect Spider-Bots that have run amok. This will be part of the Worldwide Engineering Brigade location within Avengers Campus, or WEB for short. 

Doctor Strange’s Santorium will feature character encounters with Ant-Man and The Wasp, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Superheroes from Wakanda and Asgard, and Iron Man.

Avenger’s Headquarters will serve as the entrance to a new E-Ticket attraction in Disney California Adventure. Guests will fly a Quinjet to Wakanda alongside the Avengers. This will open in the next stage of development. 

Pym Test Kitchen will provide a fun eating environment where Pym technology is used to grow and shrink foods. 

Phase One opens next year.

Walt Disney World

Disney Springs Cirque Du Soleil show coming inspired by Disney Animation. Animated characters will interact with the live performers. New musical compositions with integrate existing Disney melodies. Story will involve a young girl with an animator father, going on a journey of discovery with Disney characters. Previews begin in March 2020. 

All four parks will celebrate the 50th Anniversary.

Disney Merchandise

Disney announced a new partnership with Target. “Disney Store at Target” launches in October in 25 stores around the country, 40 more will open in the next year. These new Disney Stores within Target will include Instagrammable moments and merchandise. A Target store will be opening near Walt Disney World soon.

Epcot

Epcot will feature the biggest park transformation Disney has ever undertaken. Will be more Disney, more family. 

World Showcase will remain. 

Future World will become World Nature, World Discovery and World Celebration. 

World Celebration will be the biggest transformation. Updated versions of the iconic fountain and new greenery will be added. Spaceship Earth will remain the park’s icon. You’ll follow a magical light called a storylight on your updated journey through Spaceship Earth. The newly designed exit space with a totally new view will be called Dreamer’s Point. It will  feature a new Walt Disney statue, wishing tree, story fountain and pavillion. The three level pavillion will be the home of Epcot’s signature festivals and will showcase amazing views for the nighttime spectaculars. 

World Discovery will feature the new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. On Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, guest will board a Nova ship to see our world from space. This coaster will feature Disney’s first ever reverse launch into space.  A new Mission Space restaurant called “Space 220” launches this winter. The out-of-this-world culinary experience will have a celestial panorama of a space station, including daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up. PLAY! pavilion will open in time for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. In this interactive metropolis, guests will discover a city bursting with games, activities, and experiences that connect them with friends, family, and beloved Disney characters like never before.

World Nature will feature Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. Guests can can meet and play with magical, living water. The Land pavilion’s new film Awesome Planet, which showcases the spectacular beauty, diversity, and dynamic story of the planet, will begin welcoming guests in January 2020.

In the China pavilion, Wondrous China will take guests on a spectacular journey across China, filmed and presented in a completely seamless 360-degree digital format.

Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 will debut in January 2020 in the Canada pavilion with new scenes and a new story.

France Pavilion will add a Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along film in January 2020. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and a new restaurant called La Crêperie de Paris will be ready in Summer 2020. 

Disney Skyliner will launch on September 29.

Mary Poppins is coming to Epcot.  Cherry Tree Lane will join UK pavilion as an all new neighborhood. You’ll enter Number 17 to begin your adventure. 

Epcot Forever, a limited time nighttime spectacular, is coming this fall. 

HarmonioUS will be the biggest nighttime spectacular in Disney history. Coming in 2020. 

Many transformations will be ready in time for 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World.

Disney Genie

The new Disney Genie app will provide customized itineraries. Tell Disney Genie what you want to do and it will present you with the optimal plan. If things chance it will re-optimize your day. Disney Genie is coming in late 2020.

Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge

The upcoming Reflections Resort will include a restaurant inspired by Princess and the Frog.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

Guests of the Galactic Starcruiser will board and depart together for two days and two nights as they become part of immersive Star Wars story. 

The journey begins when you check in at the terminal at Walt Disney World. Launch pod blasts you into space until you see the Starcruiser. You’ll spend next two days and nights living on the Halcyon. Every window includes views into space. The view will change as the ship moves from place to place. New and existing characters will be part of the adventure. Your choices made will impact how your story unfolds. It all connects to your port day at Black Spire Outpost. Kids and adults can participate in lightsaber training. You’ll also get to try your hand at operating the ship.

Disney Cruise Lines

Disney is adding three new ships to their fleet. There is also a new Disney owned port of call, Lighthouse Point in the Bahamas. Disney Imagineers are creating a seaside adventure camp inspired by the nature that already exists, and also incorporating Junkanoo-inspiration. 

Disney Cruise Line’s fifth ship will be named “Wish”. It will include a three story atrium inspired by fairy tales and will set sail in January 2022. Rapunzel artwork will be featured on the stern of the ship.
