Disney Villains After Hours: Tips To Make The Most Of Your Night

Thank you to Walt Disney World for hosting me at a special media event to celebrate Disney Villains After Hours.

Considering a visit to Disney Villains After Hours? Here are some of my favorite tips to help you make the most of your night!

I visited Disney Villains After Hours on opening night, and I have a lot to talk about! I wrote a post that first night sharing all of the details on what to expect from Disney Villains After Hours, so make sure you hop over to read about the basics like ticket prices and dates.

Who should attend Disney Villains After Hours?

If you’re a fan of Disney Villains, love rides, hate waiting in lines, and can happily stay awake until 1am, Disney Villains After Hours is a great option for you. With an average ticket price of $139 plus tax, the Villains After Hours ticket is slightly above the cost of a one day, non-hopper park ticket. Since you can arrive at the park as early as 7pm, your Villains ticket will give you a total of six hours in Magic Kingdom. Those six hours should be enough time to ride pretty much anything you want to ride inside the park thanks to the drastically reduced wait times.

Pro Tip:

The park is open to both regular guests and Villains guests from the hours of 7pm until 10pm. Use the Walt Disney World app to prioritize rides with lower wait times during those hours. After 10pm, expect the wait times for all rides to drop substantially.

How do they know who is a Disney Villains ticketed guest since the park is open to everyone from 7pm until 10pm?

After Hours guests will be given a wristband to wear during the event. Cast members in the park do check those wristbands, so hanging out after regular park hours will not get you on the rides or score you any free snacks.

What are the must-dos during Disney Villains After Hours?

There’s unlimited soda, water, ice cream, fruit bars and popcorn included during the event. Take advantage! Indulge your greedy side. Grab an extra water or two on the way out. No one will judge. (You’re surrounded by villains, after all…)

Two rides have Villainous overlays. Pirates of the Caribbean includes two live actors, and Pirates is always a must-ride for me. But…Space Mountain is the ride to write home about. You ride in complete darkness to an all new soundtrack and I loved every second of it. We rode Space Mountain close to the end of the night, and if I had known how amazing that ride was going to be I would have made time to ride it over and over again!

While there aren’t any character meet and greets during Disney Villains After Hours, there are some pretty awesome magic shots available. The lines for the photographers were very short, and don’t be scared to ask them about the other locations and shots available.

Pro Tip:

Accessing ride photos and magic shots requires Memory Maker. If you’re visiting with a friend who has purchased Memory Maker or who has an annual pass, make sure they’re the ones who tap their Magic Band with the photographer.

Is the Villains Unite The Night Show worth watching?

In a word, yes. It’s got everything you want from a castle show, plus Disney Villains! Are you a Hades fan? This show is especially for you!

Pro Tip:

The show happens at 11pm, 12am and 1am. We walked right up to the midnight show without a problem, and found the crowds to be very manageable. Don’t worry about showing up early to catch this one.

What event-exclusive food and merchandise should you check out?

There’s lot of great food available during the event. (That is, if you can tear yourself away from the free Mickey Bars.) I tried out the Dragon’s Breath Float, Hades Nachos and the Maleficent Cone. All were great, but don’t bite into the Maleficent Cone expecting mint or the lime will be a shock! (You can read all of the food descriptions and locations here.) With so many sweet treats available for free, my personal recommendation is the Hades Nachos. Between those and a Mickey Bar or two, you can consider yourself well fed for the night.

There’s lots of Villainous merchandise available, but the tumblers and t-shirts featuring Hades are event exclusives. If you’re torn between what to get, let their exclusivity push them into the lead.

Is there anything else you should be sure to check out at Disney Villains After Hours?

There’s a really fun DJ on the castle stage between shows, but my favorite bonus magic was when we interacted with the villains holding court on the train station’s balcony. We spotted Goob, The Big Bad Wolf, The Queen of Hearts, Anastasia and Drizella. Expect some fun interactions with the crowds from the speaking characters.
