Spring is here and summer is just around the corner. With sunny days ahead, it’s the perfect time of year to give your home a colorful update!
During a recent trip to Family Dollar, I couldn’t help but notice all of their colorful silk flowers. There were tons of stems and arrangements to choose from. I wanted to make a brightly hued wreath, and I knew I could find something to use as the base if I looked around the store. Over in the toy aisle I found a Ring Flyer, just the right shape and size for my wreath!
Want to make a wreath of your own? Start by pulling off the top of each rose from the stem.
Grab your glue gun and add the roses to the ring. It’s important to move the positions of the roses as you glue so it doesn’t create too uniform of a pattern. You’ll also want to pay attention to what colors you’re putting where if your plan is to create an ombré effect. If you’re going for a more random or single color look, just glue at will!
A little hot glue and an old key ring will work as a way to hang your wreath.
Once you’ve covered your wreath, you could call it a day and hang it on the wall. I’m never one to stop a DIY project so quickly, though.
To really drive the ombré effect home, use spray paint! I used yellow, pink and orange spray paint from the stash in my garage to give the wreath its final look. This is a very forgiving process. Just take it slow with the paint and use light, even coats. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your color choices! I spotted black and white spray paint on my shopping trip and couldn’t help but think that a black and white wreath would be fun this fall.
