You’ve spent your whole life hearing about how matchy matchy is a bad thing, right? I follow more than one fashion blog where the critique is thrown at starlets on a daily basis. No shoes matching the purse matching the dress. Throw in a pop of color here and there. Don’t be afraid to mix things up.
To that I say, “Not today.”
Today I revel in my black-and-white-and-no-other-color glory. Today I don’t have to worry if my dress and my shoes work together because they were all but made to go together. Consider it Garanimals for adults. Now you can never go wrong with black and white. Never.
I selected a little black dress from Apt. 9 as my starting point. It has pockets. Why doesn’t every dress have pockets? The white piping made it different from my other black dresses. Plus who doesn’t love the combination of black and white? It’s a great transitional dress for spring. It can be paired with a cardigan on colder days, and can work on it’s on. From there I picked out a pair of Croft & Barrow earrings and Elle laser cut flats. (Comfy and cute-they’ll look great with jeans, too.) I finished off the look with a great pair of black and white sunnies from Dana Buchman. Head to toe black and white fabulousness…
But if you do want color?
Just take the same Apt. 9 dress and pair it with colorful red accessories. The Apt. 9 belt, Croft & Barrow earrings and Candies shoes are all from Kohl’s, too! And it doesn’t have to be red…take your favorite color and run with it!
