Set It Off This 4th Of July With A Firecracker Margarita

I created this Firecracker Margarita for the 4th of July in partnership with Hornitos.

Every holiday needs a signature cocktail. I humbly propose the super fun and super delicious Firecracker Margarita for the 4th of July.

I think we have time for one more 4th of July post before we’re officially on vacation, right? I kid. My boss is totally denying me any vacation. Have I mentioned I’m my own boss? I think I’ll let myself take a tiny break on the 4th, though. If I work hard for the next day or so. Not a drinker? Never fear! I have you set with a Firecracker Mocktail recipe!

The Perfect 4th of July Cocktail

We’re starting with a basic blue margarita recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 to 2 parts Hornitos® Tequila
  • 1 part Lime Juice
  • 1 part Blue Curaçao
  • Light Corn Syrup
  • Red Pop Rocks

Instructions

    1. Coat edge of a margarita glass with light corn syrup.
    2. Dip edge into Pop Rocks candy.
    3. Shake Tequila, Lime Juice and Blue Curaçao over ice.
    4. Pour into glass rimmed with Pop Rocks candy.

The pop rocks make this perfect for the 4th. After experimenting with both cherry and strawberry, I can confirm that cherry is the redder of the two. Either will work, though. You’ll get the best adhesion if you give the corn syrup a few minutes to set up before applying the candy.

Adjust the tequila to the strength you desire. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can also add one part simple syrup before shaking. To make your own simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water and bring to a boil. Allow syrup to cool before creating your cocktails.
