Incredibles 2 is in theaters now! What should you know before you head to the movies?
Incredibles 2 picks up right where we left off.
The Incredibles was released 14 years ago, but Incredibles 2 starts just seconds after the ending fo the first film. You don’t have to see the first film to enjoy the second, but it’s always more fun to walk into a sequel knowing the background.
Jack-Jack Steals The Show
I had a feeling the scenes with Jack-Jack in Incredibles 2 would be my favorite. I wasn’t wrong. I just had no idea how right I was. Literally every time Jack-Jack is on the screen is laugh out loud funny. The raccoon. The nom-nom cookies. The night with Edna…
Edna gives Jack-Jack a run for his money.
So you know how I said Jack-Jack steals the show? If there was any part of the movie not stolen by the baby, Edna Mode would be there to snatch it up. She’s still one of my favorite Pixar characters of all time. And the scenes with Jack-Jack and Edna? Absolute magic!
It’s full of Easter Eggs.
It wouldn’t be a Pixar film without Easter Eggs, and Incredibles 2 is full of them. Heck, there are Easter Eggs in this photo. Keep an eye out while you’re watching and you’re sure to catch a few.
It’s a movie about family for the whole family.
Incredibles 2 has a PG rating “for action sequences and some brief mild language”. Mild language, you say? I’ll confess that I didn’t notice anything related to language in the film, but take that with a grain of salt. (It would have to be pretty egregious for me to pick up on it.) And of course, Incredibles 2 is about a superhero family. There’s some superhero-related action in the film. Fans of the first film shouldn’t be surprised by anything in this film.

In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
Written and directed by Brad Bird (“Iron Giant,” “The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille”) and produced by John Walker (“The Incredibles,” “Tomorrowland”) and Nicole Grindle (“Sanjay’s Super Team” short, “Toy Story 3” associate producer), Disney•Pixar’s “Incredibles 2” is in theaters now.
