I have an office! And a craft room! I’m embarrassed to admit just how long this project has been in process. It even managed to pick up the hashtag #neverendingproject somewhere along the way. If I’m being honest, it hasn’t ended. I have a light to hang and some trim to install. There’s still a little touch up painting that’s needed. Oh, and the hardwoods end at the door threshold. Hopefully all of this will be fixed in the very near future. For now, I’m happy to have a functional, workable office and crafting space. All from a closet in my living room!
I had to dig through old photos on my phone to find some progress pictures. I’ve been collecting things for years for this space. It started as a large walk in closet in my living room. Basic metal shelves. White walls. Full of whatever random things I just managed to throw in there. I wanted color and storage and more color and more storage. So I pulled out the shelving, put in two small desks, two cube shelving units and had someone install a nice solid wooden shelf above everything. I also took a bunch of random things I already had and went to town spray painting them in bright colors. 
I did some damage to the walls when pulling out the metal shelving, giving me the perfect excuse to create gallery walls. I still have a few empty spots. That means I get to stay on the hunt for fun art while I’m out shopping.
Storage was a priority for me. I have a ton of office and craft supplies. I was buying things for projects that I already owned just because I couldn’t put my hands on them when I needed them. Hopefully that’s a thing of the past now that I have two large cube shelving units, organizing everything by type. I also kept things like markers, scissors and pens close at hand in colorful metal buckets. A practical dash of color comes in with my KLEENEX® Betsey Styled Single Packs (74ct.) tissues. I could show you my collection of Betsey jewelry, but…that’s a post of its own. 
I’ve even attacked my problem of having fifty projects going on at once with my “in progress” bucket. The big orange pail will serve as the place I’ll keep all of my odds and ends from my current works in progress. If I outgrow the bucket that means it’s time to finish up before I start something new. At least that’s how this all works out in my head…
The overhead shelving will hopefully be trimmed out and prettied up in the near future. For now it’s getting the job done of holding both my extra craft supplies and my extremely impressive collection of stuffed animals. 
In an odd habit for a crafter, I like to work in the dark. Not pitch black, obviously, but I don’t turn on a lot of lights around the house. I decided to add some fun tabletop lighting to my craft room/office to give me the low light I enjoy. These game block lights are quite possibly one of my favorite things ever. 
Although they’d be followed closely behind by my gummy bear and star marquee lights. And let me give a quick shout out to my neglected sewing machine there on the left. Hi, sewing machine! I’m sorry I never use you. 
For me, creating this space was all about the fun details. I wanted practicality served up in bright colors and lots of personality. Something as simple as a box of KLEENEX® that matches my Betsey Johnson notebook and pen makes me smile while I work. 
And of course I have I had to have a hot pink office chair. Obviously. It’s all about the color.
