Considering that she’s my favorite, there’s no excuse that I haven’t made a Snow White Pumpkin before now. I never miss a chance to do a little Disney Princess crafting, though, and this Halloween I’ll finally have a Snow White Pumpkin on my porch.
To make your own DIY glittery Snow White Pumpkin, you’ll need:
- Pumpkin (Real or Craft)
- Large Blue Glitter
- Large Gold Glitter
- Red Glitter Ribbon
- Rubber Band
- Glue
- Paintbrush
- Blue Craft Paint
- Gold Craft Paint
To help divide the pumpkin into two sections, wrap a rubber band around the center. This will give you a line to follow when you start adding glitter.
Confession time: I totally screwed up with the blue glitter and made things harder than they should have been. I should have painted the pumpkin blue on the top half before I started adding the glitter. This would have helped hide any small areas the glitter didn’t cover. Instead, I jumped right in brushing on the glue and sprinkling on the glitter. After a little trial and error, I figured out that my favorite way to get full coverage with chunky glitter is to add glitter to your glue. Brush that on. Then sprinkle on a little more glitter in the area you just brushed on the glue. Tap the glitter into the glue with the paintbrush. Continue this process until the top of the pumpkin is fully covered.
Lesson learned. Before I added the gold glitter, I brushed on a few quick coats of gold craft paint.
Expect it to take a lot of glue, a lot of glitter and a few different coats between dry times until your pumpkin is fully covered.
To finish the Snow White look, glue a bow tied from red glitter ribbon to the center of the pumpkin. To really seal all of that glitter onto your pumpkin, give it a generous coat of clear acrylic spray. Once that is dry, your glittery Snow White Princess pumpkin is ready to display!
