We’re heading back to the Sonic Cinematic Universe with Sonic The Hedgehog 2 rolling into theaters. Stars James Marsden and Tika Sumpter were thrilled by the audience’s response to the first film. “It’s exciting,” says Marsden. “To bring this big, new, more turbocharged version of Sonic to that audience, and also to maybe an audience wasn’t familiar with the game or the first movie.”
“It’s the nostalgia from people who grew up with Sonic,” agrees Sumpter. “But it’s also this new generation coming in, who just like this cool kid who’s going fast.”
When it comes to what audiences can expect from Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Marsden recalls the words of costar Ben Schwartz, who voices Sonic. “He said, ‘It’s heart, humor, and action. You got those three elements right there, and that’s a good starting place.'”
