Thank you to Universal Studios Hollywood for providing our tickets during this trip.
I had one thing on my bucket list for my next trip to Universal Studios Hollywood: Jurassic World – The Ride!
Ok, fine. If I’m totally honest I had two things on my bucket list: Frozen Butterbeer and Jurassic World – The Ride. I’ve had Frozen Butterbeer before, though, and I’ve never ridden Jurassic World. That pushed Jurassic World to the top of the list.

Plan Ahead For Jurassic World-The Ride
I don’t want to get too spoilery about the ride, but you do get wet. It is a boat ride, after all. You can even get a good look at the ride’s splashdown outside of the queue. I saw lots of my LA-based friends checking out the ride during the grand opening and noticed a Universal theme. (Pun intended.) Every last one of them was covering up. They had towels. They had hair wraps. They had ponchos. No one was braving the ride without something to mitigate the ride’s splashes. If you show up to the park without preparations, never fear. Universal Studios has you covered with ponchos for sale just outside of the ride.
I, however, was born prepared and brought ponchos for my entire crew that I picked up at the dollar store.
It’s hard for me to make ride-to-ride comparisons between Jurassic World and Jurassic Park. I only had one ride when it was still Jurassic Park, and my primary memories from that ride were seeing a baby dinosaur with the popcorn box and getting wet.
Some areas Jurassic World – The Ride, however, were clearly brand new and absolutely amazing. Actually, everything looks so fresh and new that I’m pretty sure almost every aspect was majorly refurbished.
You will see a few familiar faces on the ride, starting as early as the queue. If you’ve never seen Jurassic World, never fear. The ride doesn’t require a knowledge of the movie to enjoy it.
Jurassic World – The Ride is so much fun! It’s not too scary, so if your kids are OK after they see the splashdown they should be fine on the ride. Just know that you’ll get wet and plan accordingly.
Pro Tip: The ride photo packages at Universal Studios Hollywood are totally worth it. We decided to purchase the full package after capturing a hilarious photo on The Mummy. Getting the video of our splashdown on Jurassic World was an unexpected and awesome surprise. Splitting the cost amongst a group of friends makes it a total bargain.
Who Can Ride Jurassic World – The Ride?
Jurassic World – The Ride is a thrill ride with a minimum height requirement of 42″. Anyone under 48″ will need a supervising companion. Riders in a wheelchair or ECV will need to transfer for the ride. Child Switch is available.
How Can You Avoid The Lines at Universal Studios Hollywood?
For the best possible experience, I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy using the Universal Express Ticket on my visits. We were on the ride in just a few minutes. We were even able to request front row seats without adding more than a few minutes to the wait. The front row is the wettest, but it’s worth it. I mean, you brought ponchos, right?
