Everyone knows someone who is impossible to shop for. You know…the ones who buy everything they need and/or want without waiting for someone to gift it? I’ve long since given up on finding the perfect gift for those types and will typically sell out and go the gift card route. Of course gift cards are boring, so I’ll sometimes liven things up with a lottery ticket or two. I mean, what’ more fun than a gift that is simultaneously worth nothing and worth thousands? It’s the Schrödinger’s cat of gifts!
But a simple, “Hey, here’s a lottery ticket!” isn’t festive. That’s why I decided to throw mine into an ornament this year. It’s a craft so simple a kid could do it. But, I think it’s illegal for children to have lottery tickets? So, you know…be cool…
Just remove the top of an unbreakable craft ornament and roll up the tickets. After you push in the tickets, they’ll unwind and do their own thing inside of the ornament. To get them to behave, use a pencil, chopstick or any long, pointy thing you can find to position them into place. You can also add glitter, snow or anything else that will make it more fun when your gift recipient tries to pull the tickets out. Or more messy. Which is more fun for you, if it’s not done where you’ll have to clean it up.
So you might be asking, “Just how do you remove the lottery tickets once they’re in there?” To which I respond, “Not my problem.”
Just kidding. You can either crack open the ornament (it’s just cheap plastic) or you can use a pair of tweezers and a little patience. You can even Schrödinger’s cat-it indefinitely and hang it on your tree, lottery tickets included.
