You probably know of Michael Giacchino as the Oscar-winning composer behind the scores of Coco, Rogue One, Jurassic World, and more. It turns out he’s also ready to snag the title of director of Marvel’s first-ever holiday special, Werewolf by Night. This sneaks in just ahead of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special coming later this year.

Stars Gael García Bernal and Laura Donnelly joined Giacchino and Marvel president Kevin Feige on the stage of the recent D23 Expo to introduce the trailer for the spooky new special.

Werewolf by Night Trailer

With the “special presentation” intro (composed by Giacchino) and retro film style, you might think Werewolf by Night is more classic monster flick than MCU. Never fear! In addition to Gael playing Jack Russell/Werewolf by Night from the comics, Man-Thing makes an appearance in the trailer as well. Since Russell is associated with the Darkhold that we first saw in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, the crossover potential is limitless.

You can catch Werewolf by Night streaming exclusively on Disney+ beginning on October 7, 2022.
