If you asked me before my Avengers trip what would be the best part, I would have said-without a doubt-meeting Thor and Captain America. If you asked me after my Avengers trip what was the best part, I would say-without a doubt-it would be…well…it would still be meeting Thor and Captain America. I mean, they didn’t name Chris Hemsworth the sexist man alive for nothing. But…closely following those precious moments we had with them during the press junket would be our visit to the the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. set. We were able to spend lots of time visiting the different filming spots, we got to see some pretty amazing set pieces and we had a blast meeting the cast. It’s way too much for one post, so today I’m just going to talk about our time with Iain De Caestecker (“Leo Fitz”), Elizabeth Henstridge (“Jemma Simmons”), Brett Dalton (“Grant Ward”), Henry Simmons (“Alphonso ‘Mack’ Mackenzie”) and Adrianne Palicki (“Bobbi Morse”).

So, did Brett know that Ward was Hydra from the start?

No, I didn’t know before. They they let me know, like the episode before…so there wasn’t a lot of a heads up on that. I appreciate the Wikipedia entry where somebody said [that] they let me know in the beginning of the season, so I could subtly play it every scene. I don’t know who wrote that but I was like, oh, thank you for the credit in something I did not do. It was it was a big change but I think it really…rounded out the character in a way…because, prior to that he…had kind of a mask that he was showing to the rest of the team. And then after that you get this, all of the back story underneath it and all of the pain, danger in there…It really fleshed him out…Made him really fun to play.

There was a very funny moment after we finished taking pictures where Brett proceeded to disagree with me about which Marvel film was the funniest. But, you know…I had the advantage of having already seen Age of Ultron at this point…

What’s been Elizabeth’s favorite scene so far?

I always remember the scene that was really early on in Season 1. I think it was episode 2 or episode…could have been the pilot. We were all sitting on the back of the bus and we were watching the first O84 go up and explode. And that was the first time that, I think, as a character and an actor, I was like, oh my God I’m here. Oh, this is happening. Like we’re filming a TV show. That, for me…that’s still my favorite.

And when Iain was asked the same question, Elizabeth wanted to know if the scene involved her.

It’s, I mean…you’re probably top five. You’d be top five. Whether or not you’re number one is… I can’t think. I can’t…every episode have a new favorite scene so…I couldn’t name one. There’s too many to name.

FitzSimmons…every bit as adorable as you’d ever want them to be. You should totally ‘ship them.

So, does Henry think it’s more fun playing a good guy or a bad guy?

I don’t see my guy as evil. I don’t. I think he’s doing what he he thinks is best for S.H.I.E.L.D. The real S.H.I.E.L.D….I don’t see him as being evil. But, you know, I guess evil people don’t see themselves evil.

Henry’s arms. They’re every bit as magical in real life.

Where does Adrianne think her character should align between the “real S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Coulson’s S.H.I.E.L.D.”?

Listen, I have my own views as well, but…she’s torn. You know, she’s been part of this other SHIELD since the beginning and she’s been with Gonzales, I mean, she saved his life, you all saw that. But at the same time she cares about these people. And she doesn’t think Coulson is a bad person, she just is concerned about where some of his loyalties stand and his, you know, alien blood and all that. Some concerns that we might all have a little bit of, we don’t know where he’s going with all that, but she cares about these people.

She’s so sweet. And so bad@$$. She does her own stunts whenever they’ll let her.
