I’m slightly obsessed with Orange Bird. For the unfamiliar, Orange Bird was a featured character in Adventureland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in the 1970s. Now he can be spotted on some of the most adorable merchandise you can find in the parks. You can also find Orange Bird as one of the most adorable pumpkins on my porch this Halloween!
To make your own Orange Bird Pumpkin, you’ll need:
- Pumpkin (Real or Craft)
- Orange Spray Paint (Optional)
- Green, Yellow, White and Black Craft Foam
- Clothes Iron
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue
Cut out the shapes needed for Orange Bird’s face from craft foam. I always like to iron my craft foam for a few seconds to help shrink it down a bit and give it less of a foam-like texture. It also lets you make curved shapes in the foam, which is helpful for creating the leaf and beak shapes.
I gave my pumpkin a coat of orange spray paint to give it a nice, bright orange color. If you’re using an orange pumpkin, you can opt to skip this step.
Use hot glue to attach all of your foam face pieces to the pumpkin. I’ll confess that it took me a few tries to get the beak just right, but the whole project still took less than 30 minutes, not including dry time for the paint. So cute, right?
