Thank you to American Girl for providing the doll featured in this post.
If there was ever an American Girl doll who was really going to speak to me, it was going to be Courtney. She’s from 1986 and loves Pac-Man. I was around in 1986, and I’m pretty sure I spent plenty of time that year playing Pac-Man, too.
I mean, she has an acid washed skirt and a scrunchie. It doesn’t get any closer to my childhood than that. That’s why she inspired my most 80s Christmas Ornaments yet: Perler Bead Pac-Man Christmas Ornaments!
To make your own, you’ll need perler beads, a perler bead board, an iron, parchment paper and ribbon. Just create your Pac-Man and Ghosts on your board, following the patterns in the pictures above.
Cover the perler beads with parchment paper and press them with a dry iron until the beads melt together. Once they’re cool attach a loop of ribbon with hot glue so that you can hang them on the tree.
Courtney, along with her book Changes The Game and a whole collection of 80s accessories are available now from American Girl.
