Thank you to Good Deed Entertainment’s film Storm Boy for adopting a Pelican on my behalf and inspiring this Pelican Clothespin Puppet craft!
Storm Boy is a new family film in theaters now. The film tells the story of a young boy in Australia who rescued three orphaned pelican hatchlings. Those hatchlings inspired this easy DIY Pelican Clothespin Puppet. It’s a kid-friendly craft you can make in just minutes!
All you need to make your puppet pelican is yellow felt, white felt, a clothespin, a googly eye and glue!
Cut out a white oval and yellow beak shapes. Cut through the oval to line up with the top and bottom of the beak.
Use glue to attach the felt to the clothespin, then add the googly eye. (School glue will work, it just needs a little dry time. An adult can secure everything with hot glue for an instant bond.)
Your Pelican puppet is ready for playtime! Make three and you can pretend you’re Michael from Storm Boy!
Storm Boy is now playing in .
