A trip to Walt Disney World for the Toy Story 4 press junket meant it was time for the long-overdue return of Disney GIfts! For this occasion, I used large perler beads to make a batch of Luxo Ball Earrings. They’re the perfect mini-match to the ball you see when you visit Toy Story Land, Pixar’s Campus, or when you watch basically any Pixar movie.
Perler Bead Earring Blanks
Ready to make yourself a pair of Luxo Ball earrings? Start by pulling out some yellow Perler Biggie Beads and placing them on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Bake the beads in the oven at 325 degrees for about an hour. (Basically until they all turn into flat discs.) There are always a few beads that turn out wonky-just throw those out. Once they’re cool it’s time to turn them into Luxo Ball earrings.
Grab this cut file if you have a Silhouette, or this SVG if you have a Cricut. Cut them out of red and blue vinyl, then carefully position them by hand onto your yellow earring blanks. The blue stripe is a bit thin and fidgety, so know that you’ll probably have to throw out a few before you get a handle on the placement.
Use E6000 to attach earring backs to each Luxo Ball. Once it’s dry, your earrings are ready to wear!
