Candy Corn Bark Cupcakes

Candy Corn, Bark, Cupcakes, Recipe, Halloween
Are you ready to make some easy treats for Halloween? To me it’s just not Halloween without a little (or a lot!) of chocolate. I think that’s perfect inspiration.

Handi-Foil sent me this collection of Halloween bakeware and challenged me to create an original Halloween treat. Since I’m always a fan of cupcakes I decided to give the muffin pans a try.

The muffin pan came with these super cute Jack O’ Lantern cupcake liners. Perfect for a Halloween party.

I started with a simple box mix and added chocolate chips just to make sure everything was extra chocolaty. (I did say chocolate was my inspiration!)

While everything was baking I started on my decorations. I melted white chocolate in the microwave and spooned into silicone baking cups. The secret to melting chocolate in the microwave is always heating at half power. Full power will burn the chocolate. I heated the chocolate for one minute at half power, stirred and returned the bowl to the microwave and repeated two more times.

I added milk chocolate on top of the white chocolate. I then topped everything with chopped candy corn. (I tried the candy corn in my mini chopper but it really did work best when I chopped by hand. In just a few minutes the bark will set and ready for your cupcakes. (You can speed this process along by placing the bark in the freezer for about one minute. Don’t leave your chocolate in the freezer for too long or it will cause it to sweat.)

Just frost your cupcakes and top with the bark. Easy, delicious and cute cupcakes! This idea would be perfect for Christmas, too. Just replace the candy corn with peppermint candies. (Or whatever else you can dream up!) As a matter of fact, I think this could be adapted for almost any holiday!
