Salted Caramel Sugar Cookies

Salted Caramel Sugar Cookies

My personal experience has told me that little people aren’t huge fans of salted caramel. Clearly that means it’s one of those delightful things you don’t learn to love until adulthood. Sort of like dark chocolate and naps. Making salted caramel sugar cookies is a genius idea, as that means more cookies for you. Let’s face it-kids get enough Christmas perks. They don’t need all the cookies, too!

They’re also semi-homemade, so they’re totally easy! Grab a pouch of sugar cookie mix in the baking aisle-avoid that refrigerated stuff. Adding your own eggs and butter are what’s going to let this pass for homemade. Follow the drop cookie instructions and use a cookie scoop to get the best results.

Melt caramel bits with a splash of milk in the microwave, being careful to avoid overcooking. You want the caramel to get to that “just starting to bubble” stage. Spoon the melted caramel over the cookies and sprinkle on the sea salt.
