I grew up on The Smurfs, and had more than my fair share of the cute little blue figures hanging out in my bedroom. I’m pretty sure if I tried hard enough I could even find my old plush Smurfette doll from back in the day. My own love of all things Smurfy makes me so happy they have a new home on Nickelodeon, ready for a whole new generation to discover the fun!
To celebrate The Smurfs first season arriving on DVD, I created a fun and easy craft. To make your own Smurf house, all you’ll need is a bowl and a cup or something similar to create the base of the “mushroom” house. In this case, I picked up a few little plastic seed starters from the dollar store, along with the red bowls.
My little seed pot and bowl were already in the colors I wanted them to be. If you’re using bowls and cups you already have on hand, you might want to paint them at this step. If not, just glue the inside of the bowl to the bottom of the pot or cup.
Once your glue is dry, it’s time for the really fun part. Decorate your little mushroom Smurf house with a door, windows, and any other decorations you think your Smurf friends would like. I used paint pens, but markers, paints and brushes, or crayons will work, too, depending on the materials you used to create the house.
