It’s just not a party if there aren’t cupcakes involved. That’s a scientific fact. I made Sofia the First cupcakes with a candy amulet for this princess party. There are even cupcake wrappers based on Sofia’s dress!
Start with the cupcakes of your choice. I used my faux-fondant frosting method. For some reason, my friends and family are pretty anti-fondant. I personally don’t mind it, but it’s easier to just make Team Buttercream happy. Frost the cupcake as normal, then take the extra frosting and microwave it for about 30 seconds. Stir well and dip in the cupcake. Smooth topped cupcakes in a snap.Candy and sprinkles make the Amulet of Avalor topper. I picked up the purple hard candies from the party store. Just press the candy into the top of the cupcake. Surround with silver pearl sprinkles. Almost instant amulet! Safety warning: remove the candy before serving to children under three.
I used my Silhouette to create the Sofia cupcake wrappers. If you have a Silhouette you can download the cut file. Have a different cutting machine? Just grab the picture and trace. You can also use the picture as a template to cut by hand. For mini cupcakes you’ll want to size the wrapper to 6 inches wide. For full size cupcakes, size to 8 inches.
