Sprint Upgrades Their Network, I Upgrade My Phone

Kyocera Hydro Edgebasic disclosureThere’s no need to grab the rice. My phone is totally OK. But we’ll get to that. First, let’s talk about my trip to Chicago in July…

Cell TowerThe team from Sprint invited me to visit one of their cell sites on the top of the Hyatt Rooftop.

SAMSUNG CSCSprint’s currently making a huge investment in their network. Part of that is updating their cell towers.  They’ll be consolidating multiple network technologies into one seamless network.  Customers can expect faster data speeds, better signal strength, fewer dropped calls and improved voice quality.

That’s the same rooftop I visited! Pretty cool, right?

Kyocera Sprint CruiseI also had the chance to spend time on an amazing cruise with the team from Mom Central, Sprint and Kyocera. Cruise ViewThe views were amazing, but what had everyone buzzing was the Kyocera Hydro EDGE smartphone.

No one who wasn’t there believed us when we said the Hydro EDGE was waterproof. So out came my new phone for a field test right in the hotel room! (Thanks to Brandi for letting me borrow her InstaVideo-not that I asked her permission or anything…) I’ve dropped other phones in water not once, not twice, not even three times. I’ve drowned four phones. (Clearly, this phone was made with me in mind.)  It’s been great to have a smartphone that can safely navigate the summer at the pool and the beach!

The Hydro EDGE is dust proof and waterproof for up to 30 minutes in up to 3.28 feet of water. (I know, oddly specific, right?) It runs on the Android Jelly Bean system-that means all of the Android goodies you love are available on this phone. Smart Sonic Receiver technology means you can hear every conversation clearly, even when you’re in a noisy environment. All of that in a package that weighs in at only 4.5 ounces!
