I fell in love with Porgs on Force Friday. I picked up the plush toy, watched him squeal, and it was pretty much a done deal. The little scene with Chewy in the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer confirmed it. We still have a lot to learn about Porgs. Does Chewy eat them? Will they go full Jar Jar? One thing we don’t need to learn? How to make a Porg Pumpkin for Halloween! I have that part figured out for you.
*Insert adorable squeal*
To make your Porg Pumpkin, you’ll need:
- A Pumpkin (Real or Craft)
- Orange, Gray and White Craft Paint
- Brown Wax Glaze (Optional)
- Paintbrushes
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue
- Large Googly Eyes
- Black Gloss Spray Paint
- Porg Reference Photo
It’s helpful to start by painting the white face area first, then the orange eye area.
Paint all other areas of the pumpkin gray. Expect to do at least two coats or more of each color to get good coverage. Use gray paint and a thin brush to add a mouth and nose. This is one of those paint jobs that you just can’t mess up. If you do need to fix a goof, just paint over it. To give my pumpkin a little depth, I brushed on a brown wax glaze and wiped it off with a paper towel. Consider this an optional step.
Paint two large googly eyes with black spray paint. Use hot glue to attach them to your pumpkin.
That’s all it takes to make your own super cute Porg Pumpkin for Halloween!
