In a perfect world I’d have one work space. I’d have everything nearby that I need and everything would be expertly organized. But this is not a pefect world. Not by a longshot. I actually have three work spaces currently in use. (Four if you count when I’m in my bedroom working before I fall asleep.)
The happiest of all work spaces is the craft table, of course. I’m currently working on a better plan to store all of the items I need. (I’m pinning ideas as we speak.) I’ve got tulle and fabric everywhere, at least half of the X-ACTO cutting tools collection and a basket of Elmer’s glue sticks and painters-and that’s just to start. Storage is, needless to say, my biggest issue.
Lacking sufficient storage solutions hasn’t stopped me from adding to my collection, however. This new X-ACTO Spira is the Cadillac of pencil sharpeners. There’s also a $3 off coupon available…my colored pencil collection demanded this purchase.
For my less crafty work tasks I’m usually set up in the living room. It’s not the most ergonomic solution, but it does allow me to multi-task. (It’s multi-tasking if you tweet while watching television, right?)
When I need a little more viewable space on my computer I use my kitchen. There are plans in the future to set this computer up on a proper desk, but for now the kitchen table is filling in. (This is actually the laptop I broke months ago-plugged into a monitor and it works perfectly as a desktop.) The majority of my work on my taxes occurs here, too. (The dark side of blogging…overly complicated taxes.) More than one pencil has been worn to a nub trying to organize my deductions. (Hooray for my new Spira Sharpener!) Of course I stubbornly refuse to actually pay anyone to do this, even if things are harder than previous years. I’ve always done my own taxes and I plan to, this year, too.
Are you in the middle of organizing yourself? Perhaps hard at work on your own taxes? Or maybe you’re just jealous of my super awesome new pencil sharpener? Whatever your reason, join me at the #XACTO Twitter Party this Thursday at 1pm EST. RSVP here to be eligible to win gift cards-perfect for your own organizational shopping spree. Make sure you’re following X-ACTO on Facebook and Elmer’s on Twitter.
