Thank you to Disney for sponsoring my attendance at the #JungleBookEvent!
I’m still in a state of disbelief that earlier in the week I was on the red carpet at the World Premiere of Disney’s The Jungle Book. I’ve gone a few cool places and done a few cool things in my life, but this? This is going to be pretty hard to top.

I’ve you’ve ever seen coverage of a blogger trip to a red carpet event, you know that a photo opp on the Oscars Stairs is a tradition. This was taken just before the craziness and excitement of the actual red carpet. It was fun to hear people walk by and whisper, wondering who the heck we were.
Calling it a red carpet can be a bit of a misnomer, since the carpet color is sometimes themed to the movie. But in the case of The Jungle Book, the carpet was indeed red. An entire section of Hollywood Boulevard was blocked off for the guests and the fans.
My first red carpet celebrity sighting was Neel Sethi, who was signing posters and greeting fans. Interestingly, he was also my last celebrity sighting of the night…but we’ll get to that later.
Celebrity sighting number two? Lupita Nyong’o chatting with Entertainment Tonight. The line of press runs directly parallel to where we were walking to enter the theater, so you’re just a few feet away from all of the action.
Just after Lupita, I spotted Giancarlo Esposito chatting with Access Hollywood. Meeting him earlier in the day during our interviews was one of the morning’s highlights. He had such a beautiful energy about him.
But of all the celebrity sightings throughout the night, this one had to be my favorite.
Richard Sherman. Living legend. One half of the team who brought us the music of Mary Poppins, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, It’s A Small World and…of course…The Jungle Book. Disney Nerd: Level Up.
Celebrities weren’t the only people having their photo taken on the red carpet. Put 25 bloggers together at an event and there will be photos for days. I clearly need a remedial selfie class, but I tried.
Of course walking the red carpet was just the start of the evening. Inside the theater, a live band performed while we waited for the movie to start. I watched The Jungle Book while Giancarlo Esposito sat in the row right behind me. That’s crazy to think we watched the movie in the same room as it’s stars.
After the movie, we walked over to Ohm nightclub for the after party.
The party was full of fun activities like photo opps, games…even a few craft stations. But the highlight? The food…specifically Dole Whips and churros. There were other things to eat, but put me in front of a churro and I see no reason to look any further.
The night ended on just as high a note as it started with the chance to talk to Jon Favreau and Neel Sethi one last time. Jon mentioned how much fun he had during our interviews and how he wished there had more time. I gushed over my love of Elf. Again. He recommended we all find the singing Baloo toy that should hit shelves soon. I talked to Neel about seeing the film footage at D23 EXPO. He confirmed that it was the first time that he’d seen any of it and that yes, it was pretty cool.
