I love a good pumpkin diorama, even if they’re super hard to photograph. Yes, I’m looking at you, The Nightmare Before Christmas pumpkin. The Lion King was a special pumpkin request this year, so a simple Pride Rock diorama seemed like the perfect idea. Even if it meant struggling to photograph yet another pumpkin diorama.
How To Make A Lion King Pumpkin Diorama
To make your own Pride Rock pumpkin diorama, you’ll need:
- A Diorama Pumpkin
- Yellow Craft Foam
- Black Cardstock
- Extra Thick Black Craft Foam
- Mini Tap Light
- Hot Glue and Glue Gun
- Simba and Rafiki Pattern
You can find diorama pumpkins at your craft store, but you can also make one yourself by carving a hole in the front of any pumpkin. Cut a circle out of yellow craft foam that fits the inside of your pumpkin. Grab the Simba and Rafiki pattern and cut the design out of black cardstock. Using a digital cutter makes this process extra easy, but you can cut it out by hand. I made three digital cuts and used mod podge to stack them on top of each other to make the cut out a bit sturdier. Take a small piece of thick black craft foam and glue it to the bottom of the cut out to help secure it in the pumpkin.
Use hot glue to attach the tap light to the top of the pumpkin. Next, add a small bit of hot glue to the sides of the yellow foam circle and gently press it into the back of the pumpkin. Finish your The Lion King pumpkin by adding some hot glue to the bottom of your Rafiki and Simba cut out and pressing it into place at the bottom of the pumpkin.
Carefully tap the light at the top to see your The Lion King Pumpkin Diorama light up!
