Five Thoughts About Alice Through The Looking Glass

Alice Through The Looking Glass

Alice Through The Looking Glass is in theaters now! I’ve already seen it and it was every bit as amazing as I expected. So what should you know before you head to the theater?

Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Underland in Disney's ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, an all-new adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll's beloved stories.

Alice Through The Looking Glass takes up where Alice In Wonderland left off.

If you remember the ending of the original 2010 film, Alice was following in her father’s footsteps on the high seas. Through The Looking Glass starts off with an adventure on Alice’s ship. You might think this means that seeing the first film is required to enjoy this version. And although I do recommend you see it, you won’t be completely lost if you haven’t. This story stands fully alone.

Helena Bonham Carter is the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway is the White Queen in Disney's ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, an all new adventure featuring the unforgettable characers from Lewis Carroll's beloved stories. It’s a story about family.

We learn more about the relationship between the Red Queen and the White Queen. We see challenges faced by Alice and her mother. And there also the story about…wait…that’s a little spoilery. You’ll have to watch the find out about the other family-centered plot line.

Sacha Baron Cohen is Time in Disney's ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, an all new adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll's beloved stories.Time steals the show.

I’ve always liked Sacha Baron Cohen well enough, but in Alice Through The Looking Glass he might have been my favorite character. (Please don’t tell Johnny Depp. We have a long history.)  You would think that all of the jokes about Time would eventually get old. But they don’t. The tea party? It’s my favorite scene.

Iracebeth, the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) returns in Disney's ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, an all-new adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll's beloved stories. That’s not to say the Red Queen doesn’t hold her own.

Helena Bonham Carter is my spirit animal. (Well, technically, she’s one of about five.) The Red Queen is back in all of her scene-stealing glory. Plus in this go-round, you get to see a whole new side to her story.

Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Underland to help the Hatter (Johnny Depp) in Disney's ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, an all-new adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll's beloved stories. It’s perfect for the whole family.

Although some of the plot points will probably go right over the heads of younger viewers, there’s nothing inappropriate for them in the movie. They’ll enjoy the funny animals and the antics of the characters. Older viewers will enjoy all of that, too…but they’ll also get all of the jokes.
