I’m going on my first-ever Disney Crusie (first-ever cruise period, if we’re gonna get specific) next month, and I’ve been hard at work on some cruise-related DIY projects. One thing my friends and I decided to do is to participate in the Fish Extender gift exchange. That means coming up with a few fun gift ideas for our fellow cruisers. I’ve seen a few versions of edible Pixie Dust floating around the internet, which got me stuck on the idea of making a Tinker Bell Pixie Dust Pocket. Beyond using this papercraft as a Fish Extender gift, it’s perfect for holding a gift card, small gift or candy for any occasion!
How Do You Make Pixie Dust Pockets?
To make your own Pixie Dust pockets, you’ll need:
- Lime Green Glitter Cardstock
- Pixie Dust Pocket Template
- Iridescent Cellophane
- Glue Gun and Hot Glue
- Scissors (Or Digital Cutter)
- White Pom Poms
- Sheet of Parchment Paper and Iron
I made my pockets the perfect size to fit a few packs of Pop Rocks (my personal favorite version of edible Pixie Dust), but you can size the template up or down to meet your needs.
Cut out the green glitter cardstock using the template. Score along the dotted lines to make folding the cardstock a little easier. You can also use a digital cutter to create your pockets in a snap!
Fold a piece of iridescent cellophane in half, then cover with a piece of parchment paper. Iron the cellophane together. This will create a crinkly texture and make the cellophane a little easier to handle. Use the wing template to cut out the cellophane into the shape of Tinker Bell’s wings.
Create the pocket and secure the side tab with hot glue. Use more hot glue to add wings to the back of the pocket and two white pom poms to the front.
Add your treats to the Pixie Dust Pocket, then fold in the top and bottom tabs.
