When I was invited to Walt Disney World for the the Toy Story 4 press junket, it’s possible that I was the most excited about finally getting a chance to visit Toy Story Land. I was in the audience at D23 Expo in 2015 when Toy Story Land was first announced, and I’ve been waiting for the chance to ride Slinky Dog ever since!
That announcement said you’d shrink down to the size of a toy as you entered Andy’s backyard. That’s exactly the feeling you get when you walk through the oversized Tinker Toys and building blocks.
I’ve played Toy Story Midway Mania many times, but now there’s an all new (at least to me) entrance and an additional track to cut down on wait times. There’s also a new name: Toy Story Mania! I still call it Disney MGM Studios, so I fully expect it to take years before I officially drop the “Midway” from the name.
During the day it’s a great time to visit and notice all of the little details they’ve put into the creation of Toy Story Land.
If you like Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree in Cars Land, you’ll love Alien Swirling Saucers. It’s a fun ride that will have you giggling the whole time as you slide into your friends.
Don’t forget to check out the amazing food at Woody’s Lunch Box, including the Totchos and Lunch Box Tarts. They’ll both be a great treat, day or night.
You’ll also want to get in at least one daytime ride on Slinky Dog Dash.
It might be one of my favorite rides ever.
But don’t just visit and ride during the day. Toy Story Land is an all new experience at night.
Now’s the time that I confess that visiting Toy Story Land after our Toy Story 4 screening for a private party wasn’t exactly your average experience. I was able to ride Slinky Dog Dash six times in a row. (Then a seventh time after I got pictures with Woody and Bo.) But you will want to see Toy Story Land from the ride for the best possible view of the park at night. Even if you have to do a little waiting.
When Toy Story Land lights up, it’s absolutely spectacular!
Of course it’s not a visit to Toy Story Land without a character meet and greet or two.

During our party, Forky was hanging out with Woody during meet and greets. He wasn’t there during my daytime visit, but I’m hoping he’ll become a regular part of the experience once Toy Story 4 is in theaters on June 21, 2019.
