I celebrated the premiere of Ralph Breaks The Internet with these easy “You’re My Hero” shrink plastic charms! This post contains affiliate links.
As soon as I saw the “You’re My Hero” cookie medal make an appearance in Ralph Breaks the Internet, I knew I wanted to make “You’re My Hero” Shrink Plastic Charms for my fellow bloggers attending the premiere. (You can see my past Disney event gifts here!)
Working with shrink plastic couldn’t be easier. I had to do a bit of photo editing to get the heart design just right, but I’ve already done that work for you. Grab my You’re My Hero Charms printable and you’ll be set to print out your design directly on printable shrink plastic . The main difference between my comic book charms and my hearts is I cut the hearts out with scissors instead of a craft knife. I also left a bit of white in the center of the heart to leave me a space to drill for the jump ring. Bake your hearts on a parchment lined cookie sheet in a 350 degree oven until the shrinking is complete. The time needed will vary, so keep a close eye on things. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. When you remove the hearts from the oven, immediately press them flat with a cookbook or something similar.
Carefully sprinkle the hearts with clear embossing powder and pop them back in the oven until the embossing powder is fully melted. This will give the charms a glossy, protective finish. (You can trim any excess melted embossing powder off of the edges with a craft knife, if needed.)
Drill a small hole into the heart with a 1/16 inch drill bit. Add a jump ring and chain, then your “You’re My Hero” shrink plastic charm will be ready to wear!
