Easy Kung Fu Panda Cupcakes

Easy Panda Cupcakes

I’ll start off by reminding you that I can only successfully decorate a cupcake if I attack it like a craft project. Case in point? These Kung Fu Panda cupcakes.

Candies

I used my favorite frosting method: dip frosting. That’s dipping the cupcakes in frosting that you’ve microwaved for a few seconds. It gives you a smooth, fondant-like covering and it’s super fast. I microwave for about ten seconds, but your timing may vary depending on your  microwave. Just don’t do it for too long or the frosting will start to separate.

After dip frosting, I used mini chocolate sandwich cookies for the ears and eyes. You’ll need to twist the cookies in half, then take the halves without the filling and press them into the top to form the ears. Take the two halves with the filling to use as the eyes. Mini chocolate candies make Po’s green eyes and the nose. If you’re making non-Po panda’s you can use brown. Or blue. Or red if you’re going for an evil panda look. I filled a small plastic bag with a spoon of frosting, snipped off the tip of the bag, then piped on a dollop to adhere the eyes.
Piping Plastic Bag

I added a little black food coloring to another small bag of frosting and used that to pipe on the mouth. Only cut off a small bit of the bag tip for this part, or it might be a little hard to control.
